SMALL GROUPS

Fall Small Groups
Beginning in September, we will be gathering every 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Sunday at 4:30PM at two different locations for small group Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. One small group is hosted by the Steinberg family and the other small group is hosted by the Turner family. Small groups are an excellent opportunity to grow closer in relationships while growing in Christ through the shared study of God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship. We are currently studying the book of Hebrews together, Jesus is Greater!

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” (Hebrews 1:1–2)

GR MEN

Men’s Bible Study & Fellowship
Men (18 and older) are invited to come as often as possible on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of each month at 7pm at the “Steinberg Breezeway” to learn from God’s Word, discuss together from what is taught, and fellowship over drinks. Men may begin attending any time. This is a good opportunity for co-workers, neighbors, and relatives to visit or join anytime.

Beginning in September, we will be learning together about fatherhood from Pastor Tim Bayly’s book, Daddy Tried. Maj. Gen. Bentley Rayburn US Air Force (Retired) says, “As a senior officer in the military, I know the importance of training and leadership. I’ve seen what happens when there is a lack of training and/or weak leadership, as well as the clear benefits of strong leadership and rigorous training. Our families prosper or suffer on the strength and quality of the leadership from our fathers. I have seen the effects of poor fatherhood on the young men and women who come into our Armed Forces and have struggled with my own shortcomings in raising my own four children. Tim Bayly’s work is an excellent call to arms for fatherly leadership and the need for us to train ourselves, each other, and our sons to be strong, loving, and compassionate fathers and husbands who will serve and protect and fight for our families—to be strong in the faith and resolute in upholding what is good, right, and noble. It’s up to us, men, to provide that leadership. Tim Bayly has helped us in this quest.

About Us

As a church family, we are growing together as faithful & fruitful followers of Jesus Christ.

In 2009, Grace Redeemer Church (GRC) began as a church plant of the the Gulf Coast Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). As a congregation in a community that has many generational locals and many military transplants, we praise God that He has continued to provide for the maturity of our church family in the intervening years. In 2017, our church family elected and called Tyson Turner, with his wife, Jen, and their children to come and follow our founding pastor, David Young. Pastor Tyson leads alongside our ruling elder, Michael Steinberg. (We look forward to God adding other elders and deacons to care for the congregation.)

We are evangelical and reformed in doctrine. Our beliefs are more fully expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith (full text here), and briefly summarized in The Apostles’ Creed.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

COVID-19, coronavirus, pandemic, shelter in place, quarantine, flatten the curve, social distancing, phases of re-opening, economic cost vs health risk…this is one of the strangest presidential election years that I remember. The news cycle is fixated on a virus instead of on the nearing election. Thousands have died of at least in part from contracting …
